The Print Queue Manager handles lists of print jobs created
by Novell. These lists are called print queues. It allows you
to manage print job traffic in a variety of ways: You can assign
print queues to different printers, you can capture printer
output to a file, you can hold, delete, or rush a job, and even
set a specific time when a print job will be sent to the printer.
The Print Queue Manager requires Novell Advanced NetWare 2.1
or greater for features to function properly. Not all features
of the Print Queue Manager is available to those who do not have
the proper access.
Exit: Exits the Print Queue Manager, bringing you back to the
main program opening screen.
Jobs: Used to select a print job configuration. If you have
output directed to a local printer, you can use the
Jobs command to redirect that output to another
printer.
Output: The following options allow you to control printer
output for the highlighted printer device:
Local: Allows you to send LPT printer output to your local
printer. You must use the Jobs command to route output
to a network printer. See Jobs.
File: Allows you to capture printer output to a file. Simply
select the printer you want to capture from, select
Output, File, then type the full filename.
End: If the print job that you sent to a printer is not
printing, and "fill" is indicated in the queue, use
this command to release the print job.
Queues: Use this command to display and/or change the list of
print queues. Once you select the Queues command, you
are presented with the Queue Listing Menu, see below
for the description of this menu.
Queue Listing Menu:
Once you've selected the print queue you want to manage
(via the Queues command), the following commands become
available from the main menu:
Job: The Job submenu allows you to manipulate the list
of print jobs in the selected print queue:
Hold: Use this command to hold a print job.
Selecting Hold again will release the print
job.
Rush: Lets you rush a print job to the top of the
list of print jobs waiting to be printed in
the current print queue.
Delete: Lets you delete a print job from the selected
print queue. Delete also lets you stop a
print job while it's printing. Same as
pressing <Del> on highlighted job entry.
Time: Lets you view or change the time and date
your print job will be printed. After you
select the command, simply enter the release
date and the time.
Printing:
Enabled: Enables the selected print queue for printing
print jobs.
Disabled: Disables the selected print queue from
printing further print jobs.
